This movement through and aural perception of space supports de Certeau’s notion of flanerie as alternative epistemological strategy, but further removes itself from the problematic universal subjectivity of Western science by shifting from the gaze to the hark as primary epistemic device. McLuhan would be happy, for listening is potentially once again on par with sight, in the activities of the aural flaneur.
